Wu Lei will be starring in 2 new movies that were announced at the 26th Shanghai International Film Festival.

The first one is “Dongji Island”. This movie will be directed by Guan Hu and Fei Zhenxiang, starring Zhu Yilong and Wu Lei. The film tells the story of Chinese fishermen on Dongji Island who participated in international rescue at sea during World War II, showing the kindness and braveness of ordinary people. It will officially start shooting at the end of June. The shooting will last for five months. It was said that Dongji Island is China’s most difficult water movie to shoot so far and will have 1:1 restoration of the Lisbon Maru. In the interview, Guan Hu revealed that the leading actors of “Dongji Island” have to do a lot of underwater training. Now the leading actors have the ability to hold their breath dynamically for four and a half minutes. Liang Jing (the movie producer) said that “Dongji Island” will probably be released at the end of 2025 or in 2026.

The 2nd movie is “The Decisive Moment” directed by Zhang Disha, starring Huang Bo, Wu Lei, and Gao Ye. This movie is a science fiction adventure masterpiece, spanning 60 years and three generations of astronauts, paying tribute to the 70th anniversary of China’s aerospace industry. The script won the 2019 Chinese Science Fiction Film and Television Venture Capital Conference Jury Award and the Best Visual Effects Creativity Award. The story focuses on the future time and space. On the way back to Earth, three Chinese astronauts encountered a complex situation and lost contact with the ground. At a critical moment, they received an electronic signal, and their fate will be completely changed by a mysterious code hidden in this signal. The shooting will start in August this year. Wu Lei will be filming “The Decisive Moment” after he filmed “Dongji Island”.
