Sri Lanka | WuLei came to my restaurant

I stumbled upon my own restaurant in the middle of the night and I began to feel nostalgic.

Eight years ago, My husband and I came to Sri Lanka for our honeymoon. We fell in love with this place and decided to leave our high-paying jobs in Shanghai and Shenzhen to settle here. We chose a city we loved-Galle Fort. Because it had a unique style, filled with a cultural atmosphere and Dutch colonial architecture.

So, we opened a restaurant and worked hard for a few years. Suddenly, one day. Lei Lei’s team booked our restaurant. After they arrived at Galle Fort, they used our modified tuk-tuk for photos (I believe it’s the most beautiful tuk-tuk in Sri Lanka, hands down, hahaha). We even helped them find local kids to take photos with.

Lei Lei’s brother saw that Sri Lankan kids played soccer barefoot, so he took off his shoes and joined them. (I have to mention, his English is really good and he was very considerate buying ice cream and drinks for the local kids.)

He politely asked, “Sister, is this the restaurant run by you and your husband?” I remember that day he ate two bowls of rice and asked, “Sister, are you both from Sichuan?” Then we happily chatted in Sichuan dialect, hahaha.

Since my baby was very young at that time and was fussy, he held my baby and said sadly: “Sister, does he not like me?”

Auntie fan’s heart melted instantly.

Over the years, we never used Lei Lei’s name for advertising. Of course, due to the pandemic, our restaurant sadly had to permanently close. Sri Lanka has been through a lot in these years and I hope it keeps getting better.

But the time spent with Lei Lei Makes me feel Lei Lei is awesome! Polite, emotionally intelligent, a sunny young man. I hope his future is bright and he keeps moving forward.
